Vaccines for Kittens & Cats

Contact our team to create a vaccination plan for your cat or dog.

Vaccines play a major role in keeping your pet healthy. They protect your feline friend by giving them immunity. To control the spread of diseases the law requires all cats receive certain vaccines, which are classified as core vaccines. Non-core vaccines are recommended by veterinarians for individual pets. To learn more about the vaccines your kitten or cat needs, reach out to our team.

What core vaccinations are recommended for cats and kittens?

  • Feline calicivirus – affects their respiratory system
  • Rabies – affects their nervous system
  • Feline distemper (panleukopenia) – affects the cells that line the intestine as well as white and red blood cells
  • Feline viral rhinotracheitis (feline herpes) – affects the respiratory system

What non-core vaccines may be recommended for my cat or kitten?

Non-core vaccines are also important as they protect your feline friend from illnesses. The difference with non-core vaccines is they are pet-specific due to unique risk factors. Non-core vaccines that may be recommended for your cat include Feline Leukemia and Bordetella.

What can I expect when my cat or kitten is vaccinated?

Some cats experience side effects after they have received a vaccine. In most cases the symptoms are very mild and don’t require medical attention. It is very common for your feline friend to experience fever, loss of appetite, lethargy and swelling at the injection site. These symptoms usually clear up within 48 hours.
