Euthanasia & Cremation Services

Providing compassionate care during a difficult time.

End of life care is just as important as caring for your pet in the earlier stages of their journey. Your pet ages a lot faster than you, so it is natural for their lifespan to be shorter than yours. At Cremona Veterinary Clinic, we’re aware that nothing prepares you to say the final goodbye to your loyal companion. Our veterinarians are here to listen to your concerns and give advice on the best course of action to take. We’re prepared to give your pet a respectful and pain-free send-off when the time is right.

What is veterinary euthanasia?

Euthanasia is the medical term used for the peaceful passing of one’s pet. It is sometimes referred to as “putting your pet to sleep”. It is pain-free and often seen as the final act of mercy you can give your loyal companion.

How is euthanasia performed?

To prepare our clients, we always inform them of what to expect before we begin a procedure. We encourage families to spend quality time with their pet leading up to the appointment. If you wish, you may bring your loyal companion’s favourite toy or item to make them more relaxed. We begin by administering the medicine through an IV under their skin. The medication ends their life quickly without any pain or discomfort. The euthanasia medicine stops all brain and heart activity.

Can I stay with my pet during euthanasia?

Yes, we allow pet owners to be with their furry friends while we perform the procedure. Your presence may also bring additional comfort to your pet. We know many struggle to make this decision and may need some time with their loyal companion to say their final goodbye.
